Our members, friends, and pastor extend a warm invitation to fellowship with us at First Baptist Church at any of the services.  It is our desire to minister to the whole family with the Word of God and meet the spiritual need in each heart. Therefore, a nursery is available at every service allowing both young and old to participate in various aspects of worship.

"Come unto me all ye who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest."                                Matthew 11:28

Damascus holds the distinction of being the first township to have a house built exclusively for church purposes. It was erected in 1800 by Deacon Thomas Shields, just a few yards from where the present church now stands.  Although not formally organized until 1821, the present building was dedicated in 1832.

The church is an Independent Baptist church dedicated to preaching the Gospel and preserving the fundamental doctrines of God's Word.

"Holding forth the Word of Life; that (we) may rejoice in the day of Christ, that (we) have not run in vain, neither labored in vain."  Philippians 2:16

The pastor of the First Baptist Church is Reverend Stuart G. Hunt. He and his wife, Sue, have four children.  After receiving a B.S. degree in Agricultural Education from Cornell University, Pastor Hunt was a dairy farmer in upstate New York. In 1984 he attended Bob Jones University and received his Master of Divinity degree. He became the pastor at FBC on December 14, 1986.

"For though I preach the gospel, I have nothing to glory of: for necessity is laid upon me; yea, woe is onto me, if I preach not the gospel."  I Corinthians 9:16
